Poina ‘ole
Ms.Marie Nelson
Poina ‘ole
Our Partner Pastry Chef for Upcoming à la maison Events.
"Poina Ole" means "unforgettable" in Hawaiian.
Marié grew up in Japan, and it was her deep longing to recreate the nostalgic flavors of her childhood — those beloved tastes she could never forget — that first led her to take her passion for sweets seriously here in the United States. Today, there is not a single day that passes without her baking.
She shares that when she is in the kitchen creating, she enters a state of complete stillness — a quiet, meditative calm that draws her ever deeper into her craft.
Each delicate sweet she creates invites you to slow down, to savor every bite — a true experience of mindful eating. Savored with a sense of space, lingering emotion, and the gentle turning of seasons, her sweets are crafted with one heartfelt wish: that their flavor will quietly settle into a cherished corner of your memory.
Orders are placed in advance and delivered a few days later. The anticipation of waiting, the joy of tasting, and the quiet afterglow that follows — it is much like ordering a beloved book, reading it to the last page, and then sitting with the world it left behind. This is the story that each of her sweets tells.
The sweets from Poina Ole, served at À La Maison's afternoon tea, are designed each time with care and intention by our entire team — paired thoughtfully with our carefully curated selection of teas — with the hope that they will become a treasured memory for each of our guests, like a passage from a beloved book that stays with you long after the final page.
We look forward to sharing this experience with you.
Our Original Spouted Bowl

A Collaboration with Master Artisans

A Katakuchi is a versatile spouted bowl. While it’s ideal for preparing matcha, it can also be used as a stylish server for sake, dressing, or even as a unique milk pitcher.
